Tõnis Palts

Tonis Palts ( born March 29, 1953 in Kuressaare ) is an Estonian entrepreneur and politician.

Life and career

Tonis Palts studied after graduating from high school from 1971 to 1976 radio engineering at the Technical University of Tallinn.

With the restoration of Estonian independence was Tonis Palts successful entrepreneur and multi-millionaire. He was from 1993 to 1999 the Supervisory Board or Managing Director, founded by him company Levicom Cellular AS, 1996-2001 Chairman of the company Rita Bell AS, 1997-2000 Director of the Company Ringhäälingu Saatekeskus AS, 1996-2001 Chairman of the Tallinn cable television company and of 1999-2002 Chairman of the Board of OÜ Levicom Broadband.

After 2000 Palts went into politics and joined the new party, Res Publica. He is regarded as one of the main financiers of the party. From June to December 2001 held the office of Lord Mayor Palts of Tallinn. From April to October 2003, he was Minister of Finance of the Republic of Estonia in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Juhan Parts. From September 2003 to October 2004 was Palts deputy in the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ) prior to November 2005 he again became Lord Mayor of Tallinn from October 2004.

Private life

Tonis Palts is married to Karmen Palts and has six children.
