Tõnu Tõniste

Tõnu Tõniste ( born April 26, 1967 in Tallinn, Soviet Union) is an Estonian sailor.

Sporting successes

Tõnu Tõniste started together with his twin brother Toomas Tõniste in 1976 with the sailing. Four years later, took place in Tallinn, the sailing competitions of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. From 1987 to 1989, both three times Soviet Champion and 1983-1991 Estonian champion eight times. In 1990 she won the Kieler Woche and 1992 were European champions.

At the Olympic Summer Games in Seoul in 1988 won Tõnu Tõniste together with his twin brother, the Olympic silver medal for the Soviet Union in sailing ( 470 class). At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona both won the bronze medal for Estonia in the same class. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta they disappointed with 10th place.

Since 1994 Tõnu and Toomas Tõniste operate alongside the sailing also an entrepreneur.
