Tony Russel

Tony Russel (sometimes Tony Russell, actually Pietro Antonio Russon; born November 23, 1925 in Kenosha, Wisconsin ) is an American actor and voice actor.

Life

Russell was already active as a student in performances. During World War II he was employed as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force; after which he studied at the University of Wisconsin linguistics and drama. At the Pasadena Playhouse in 1952 he made his final and turned in the same year his first film, Hiawatha. The main role in the Disney television production of Zorro, he just missed out against Guy Williams; Russel played this role ten years later in a European film. However, his big, athletic appearance made ​​him take numerous supporting roles in films and television series, in which he could use his physical abilities. In 1962 he went to Italy and stayed there for five years, where he made a number of adventures and science fiction films.

In addition to his acting career, he founded in Italy ELDA (English Language Dubbers Association), with whom he worked not only Italian films for the English market, but also the system introduced to provide a cast member in the course of his career with the same voice actor. So Russell himself was, for example, the English voice of Fernando Sancho. After his return to the U.S. in 1967 were made, he often worked for television, but specialized more and more in dinner theater. Again and again we see Russel in film meeting.
