Tordylium apulum

Apulian Zirmet ( Tordylium apulum ) is a flowering plant in the carrot family ( Apiaceae ).

Features

Apulian Zirmet is an annual plant that reaches the plant height of 20 to 60 centimeters. It is more or less scattered pubescent. The stem is branched erect, its base is covered with dense hair, soft and stand-off. The leaves have a simple Fiederung. The Fiederabschnitte the lower leaves are ovate and notched deep, the upper linear and entire.

The umbel is 3 - to 8 - rayed. The envelope and Hüllchenblätter are subulate, ciliated short and stiff. The sepals often have different lengths. The flowers are colored white. The ray flowers each have a strikingly enlarged, deep bilobular and 4 to 6 millimeters long petal. The fruit is 5-8 mm long, disk-shaped, striking and soft blistered hairy, its edge is notched and whitish.

The flowering period extends from April to July.

Occurrence

Apulian Zirmet occurs with the exception of Morocco in the Mediterranean. The species grows on dry and cultural wasteland.
