Torfkuhlen Bad Sülze

Artificial lakes, caused by peat cutting

The Torfkuhlen in Bad brawn are three immediately spaced lakes in the southwest of the district of Vorpommern - Rügen. They lie in the swampy lowlands, which connects the valley with the valley of the Recknitz Cernosin. The Torfkuhlen are located about two kilometers southeast of Bad brawn and about four kilometers northwest of Tribsees and emerged from Torfstichen.

The word cow comes from the Low German and refers to a soil pit or depression. The peat explains the rectangular shapes of the three individual water bodies, which are separated only by two narrow land bridges. The extending from northwest to southeast lakes lie in Rauhen Moor and adjacent to the nature reserve Grenztalmoor. The waters composite is composed 1200 meters long and slightly wider northern part of the middle and upper basin up to 340 meters wide.

Name

Anglers call the hollows " Torfkuhlen town moor bath brawn". The name of the water body could also be " The Great peat ".
