Torild Skard

Torild Skard ( born November 29, 1936 in Oslo) is a Norwegian politician, UN officials and women's rights activist.

Career

She was Storting MPs for Sosialistisk Venstreparti and President of Lagting (1973-1977), Director of Women's Affairs of UNESCO (1984-1986), International President of UNICEF (1988-1989), Vice- Secretary General of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNICEF Regional Director for West Africa and Central Africa ( 1994-1998). Since 2006 she has been President of Norsk Kvinnesaksforening.
