Torkel S. Wächter

Torkel S. Wächter ( born 1961 in Stockholm, Sweden ) is a Swedish- German writer and artist of German-Jewish descent.

Life

Guardian studied at the universities of Lund, Melbourne and Leipzig and at Paideia - The European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden - and studied at the Royal College of Art in Stockholm.

Between 1986 and 1999 he worked as a pilot for SAS.

His first novel, Samson, his second novel Ciona was published in 1997 in Nature Publishing och culture. En självbiologi appeared in 2002 AlfabetaAnamma and in the same year for the Swedish literary award August Prize ( Augustpriset ) nominated. Since 2006 he has both Swedish and German citizenship.

For his literary and art project 32 postcards he published on the website www.32postkarten.com this authentic 32 letter cards, all of them written in Hamburg in the German Sütterlin similar font and sent in the years 1940/41 to Sweden - the last before the Holocaust. On the day exactly 70 years after the first of these cards was written, this was added on 29 March 2010. The following are card for card also in " simulated real time " on the day of their dating ( but just 70 years later ) follow. The cards had discovered in the attic of the estate of his parents guard.

The second part of the simulated real-time project, onthisday80yearsago.com, was published in 2013, he describes the first five months of the Nazis in power, and how this affects the life of German Jewish family of civil servants guard in Hamburg. On January 30, 2013, the book was published, the determination as part of the project.
