Torpor

In some animals it may even be daily Torporzyklen. In hummingbirds have been observed that at night they can be put into a short-term sleep state spontaneously. Similarly, the torpor in bats and the ordinary house mouse occurs. The bat lowers to their body temperature during sleep below normal.

Daily torpor is known of mouse lemurs, the smallest primate in the world. If the nightly food supply during the dry season is not enough to go around midnight mouse lemurs in torpor and reduce down their body temperature. They can be passive heat up with the sun slowly towards morning and wake up at noon from the torpor. You then have a few hours spent in torpor, but save up to 40 % of its energy, in particular by the passive heat.
