Torrey is a town in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Utah. It is located on State Route 24 approximately 13 km from Capitol Reef National Park.
Geography
Torrey is located at 38 ° 18 ' 6 "North, 111 ° 25' 12" West. At the time of the U.S. Census in 2000, Torrey had 171 inhabitants. The village lies at an altitude of 2,000 m.
History
Torrey was founded in 1880 by Mormon settlers and probably named after Jay L. Torrey, a Member of Parliament in the Wyoming Territory, after a post office station was founded.
