Tosny

Tosny is a commune with 684 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Eure in the Haute-Normandie region. It belongs to the arrondissement Les Andelys and Canton Gaillon -Campagne. The place is situated on the left bank in a flow loop between Louviers and Les Andelys.

History

The medieval Lords of Tosny migrated to the Norman conquest of England, where they came to power and influence under the name Lord Toeny or Lord Tony.

During World War II (1939-1945) Tosny was bombed in the summer of 1944, during Operation Overlord by the Allied Air Force.
