Toto Karaca

Irma Felegyan or Felekyan, with artist name Toto Karaca (* March 18, 1912 in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire, † July 22, 1992 in Istanbul), was a well-known Turkish stage and film actress of Armenian descent.

Life

As members of the Armenian minority in Turkey Felegyan Irma was born in 1912 in Istanbul. Her mother was Mari Hranuş Felegyan. Irma Felegyan learned ballet dancing during her childhood. During their performances in musical theater she preferred the name Irma Toto. Your last name became Karaca, as in 1939 the Azerbaijani theater actor Mehmet İbrahim Karaca married.

In the 1930s, Irma Felegyan occurred in Ömer Aydin operettas. She was also among the founders of the Istanbul Theatre in 1960. Irma Felegyan died in 1992 in Istanbul and was buried in the family grave of the Armenian cemetery of Şişli.

She is the mother of rock musician Cem Karaca.
