Toufic Farroukh

Toufic Farroukh, Arabic توفيق فروخ, (born 1958 in Beirut ) is a Lebanese musician (saxophone, bouzouki, percussion ) and composer in the field of fusion and ethno-jazz.

Life and work

Farroukh first lessons had with his brother, a saxophonist. In Beirut he worked with Ziad Rahbani and Joseph Sakr, including as an actor in the play Binisba Lebookra Shoo ( German: what will be tomorrow) and in two pieces with Ziad Rahbanis, Film Ameriki Tawil and Shi Fashel. For the study, he moved to Paris, where he studied music at the Conservatory; In 1994 he presented his debut album Ali on Broadway. In his other productions he worked among others with the singer Rima Khcheich. In the following years he also composed a number of film soundtracks. In his music he mixes Arabic music with jazz, pop and contemporary dance music, in which he includes movements such as drum and bass, electro and rap. In 2011, he joined with his absolute Orchestra at the Dubai International Jazz Festival.
