Tougan

Tougan is a city and a comprehensive department of the same territory in the West African state of Burkina Faso located in the region of Boucle du Mouhoun and capital of the province of Sourou. The area has divided into seven sectors capital and the 33 surrounding villages 66 706 inhabitants and is located in the Land of Sanan.

Several attempts were necessary, until the French Tougan could take, as they colonized the territory of today's Burkina Faso. The non- centrally organized Sanan a tenacious resistance and were defeated in 1897.

Today, agriculture is the main livelihood of the inhabitants Tougans. It is since 1974 a city partnership with the City of Rain in the state of Bavaria.
