Tourelle de la Plate

The Tourelle de la Plate (also called la Petite Vieille, the little old man ') is a 1896 finished navaids near the Phare de la Vieille in the department of Finistère in Brittany. " Tourelle " (little tower / turret ) is in the French sailor language the usual term navigational aids in the form of small, non- floating towers, so a special form of beacons.

On June 5, 1886, decided to build another sea mark next to the lighthouse La Vieille. A few months after completion of construction of the Tourelle was born on December 4, 1896 so badly damaged by a storm that the repair work lasted until 1910. On 31 August 1911, a fixed luminous, green oil vapor light was installed.

The present role of

The Tourelle de la Plate now assumes the role of Cardinal West ( yellow-black - yellow; thereon are two black cone with the tip of one another, groups of 9 flashes ) one which calls attention to a danger point east of the navaid.
