Toxik

Toxik is a Thrash-Metal-/Progressive-Metal-Band from Peekskill, New York (United States). The band is one of the founders of the Progressive Thrash Metal.

History

The band was formed in 1985 by guitarist Josh Christian and bassist Lee Erwin. Initially called the band still "Tokyo ". Since there was already a band with that name and they wanted to avoid a legal dispute, you changed the band's name in Toxik. The singer Michael Sanders and drummer Sal Dadabo completed the occupation, which is referred to as the "Tokyo lineup ."

In 1986, there were two changes in the cast. Lee Erwin left the band for personal reasons and was replaced by Brian Bonnini. Sal Dadabo left Toxik toward Twisted Sister. His successor was Ted Leger. In the summer of 1986 the band recorded a demo, which has earned a contract with Roadrunner Records the band.

The debut album " Circus World " was published in 1988 and is regarded as one of the first progressive thrash metal albums. The U.S. College Music Journal has named "World Circus" for "Best New Metal Album of the Year ". After the tour, Michael Sanders left the band. Successor was Charles Sabin. A year later came the second and to date last album " Think This ". For the upcoming tour with King Diamond by North America and Europe, the band John Donelly brought in the cast. After a long tour, the band broke up in 1992.

In the fall of 2006, both albums were re-released by Displeased Records. Another re-release both albums in the spring of 2007 by Metal Mind Productions. In February 2007, the band announced their reunion in the "World Circus" cast. Instead Tad Leger Lou Caldarola sat behind the drums because Leger wanted to concentrate on his new band Lucertola. In August 2007, Brian Bonnini left the band. Since no time a replacement has been found for him, the band had planned for November 2007 European tour, including cancel appearances at the festivals Keep It True and Ragers Elite.
