Tracing wheel

The print wheel is used to transfer a cutting pattern on neutral paper. It consists of a toothed wheel with sharp spikes, which is run in a metal fork, which is mounted in a wooden handle.

Through the descendants of the contours of individual cuts on the pattern sheet with the print wheel they appear on the paper as defined under perforation. But you can also place copy paper between them and use a wheel with blunt spikes. Copy paper is available in the colors yellow / white for light fabrics and in red / blue for dark fabrics.

Required the use of a copy wheel, because housed on pattern sheets usually have several sections and are arranged so space-saving as possible. Here, the different parts, which is why they can not be cut out individually overlap. For a given model, therefore, the corresponding interface on neutral paper must be transmitted, wherein a system of special contour lines ( lines size ), numbers and colors helps.
