Tract housing

A number of settlement is a pre-planned city development that arise otherwise than terraced houses from individual buildings in their neuparzellierten land. Modern series of settlements are frequently encountered mainly in North America in the form of Tract Housing, in a construction company in series production which builds houses in a project area and sold, and achieved by a similarity of the buildings affordable prices. In Europe series settlements are mainly to be found in the Netherlands, where, especially in drained areas ( land reclamation ) similar to the other houses were built in rows. Since row settlements are often built in remote regions, they are often called settler colonies, such as mine colonies.

In the U.S., Levittown applies (New York) as the symbol of the Tract Housing as an American form of the ( pre-) urban life. In the first decades of the Tract Housing very uniform settlements were built partly with only a single building. Modern Tract -housing areas show in the external form a much stronger variability, such as by using different garages or terraces, on the basis of a common Baukerns. By standardizing the components considerably cost can be saved; so construction workers can be taught to a few handles. The infrastructure during construction will be created only once for a variety of buildings, and often complex parts such as stairs, roofs and bathrooms are pre-assembled and delivered in plants. The popular series of settlements have nicknames like McHousing, in reference to the McDonald's fast-food restaurants, conducted in the USA.
