Trallalero

The Trallalero is in Genoa ( northern Italy) indigenous to a cappella singing without instruments, which is traditionally sung by the port workers. With the singing of their work and love workers tried to distract herself from heavy activity after work.

The roots of Trallalero date back to the Middle Ages, it had its heyday in the early 20th century.

Although the harbor life has changed dramatically because of the container shipping industry in recent decades, the Trallalero is also today still maintained by a few groups in Genoa.

A Trallalero group usually consists of nine persons: baritone, tenor, falsetto, a " guitar " (ie, a voice that mimics a guitar ) and five bass voices.

Since the Trallalero is exclusively sung by men, the falsetto voice is the only high voice in the group. Women are (with very few exceptions ) are excluded to date from the tradition of Trallalero.
