Tram 2000

Tram 2000 is the name of a type of tram that transport companies Zurich ( VBZ) operated tramway Zurich with the type designation Be 4 /6, bezw. Be 2 /4 and Be 4 /8, which were built in 1976-1992. In addition to the basic type Be 4/ 6, the vehicle family as other types führerstand loose Beitriebwagen Be 4 /6 and Be 2/4 " Pony " and caused by remodeling, partially low floor loading 4/8 " litter ".

History

The Tram 2000 was designed to modernize the fleet of the Zurich tram operation to succeed the Be 4 /6 « Mirage ». In contrast to its predecessor, the Tram 2000, however, the six-axle articulated cars have only one joint, which rests on a Jakob bogie.

First 45 six-axle articulated railcar ( Be 4 /6) with cab and 15 were procured without cab 1976-1978. This was followed in a second procurement between 1985 and 1987 another 53 Be 4 /6, as führerstand loose Beitriebwagen 20 four-axle Greater cars now come, however ( Be 2 /4) in the stock, who received the nickname " Pony ". As the engine of the first series had proved too weak, the vehicles of the second series were incorporated more powerful engines. As a third series 1991 to 1992 another 23 Be 4/ 6 and contains 15 2/4 " Pony " were procured. To increase the capacity and to offer low-floor entrances on the from 2001 newly procured Be 5 /6 « Cobra » addition, all 23 Be 4/ 6 of the third series were after modification of a test carrier from 1999 to between 2004 and 2005 expanding a low-floor center portion that rests on a further Jakob bogie. The drive power remained unchanged, so that these trams have a lower acceleration than its sister vehicles. The converted vehicles are referred to as Be 4 /8 and are available under the name of " litter " known.

The stock of Tram 2000 at the Zurich public transport operators arises since 2005 is as follows:

  • Be 4/6 2001-2045 (1976-1978), first series
  • Be 4/6 2046-2098 (1985-1987 ), second series
  • Be 4/8 2099-2121 " litter " (1991-1992), from 2004 to 2005 from Be 4 /6 ( 3rd series ) converted
  • Be 4/6 2301-2315 (1978), 1st series, no cab
  • Be 2/4 2401-2420 " Pony " (1985-1987 ), 2nd series, no cab
  • Be 2/4 2421-2435 " Pony " (1992 ), 3rd series, without cab

Tram 2000 come in the following compositions for use on most lines they share the benefits with Be 5 /6 « Cobra »:

  • BE 4/6 Be 4/ 6 lines 2, 7, 11, 13, 14, 17
  • Be 4/ 6 Be 2/4 " Pony ": lines 3, 4, 5, 9, 17
  • Be 4/8 " litter ": lines 5, 6, 9 and as emergency vehicles
