Transbaikalfront

The Transbaikal Front ( Russian Забайкальский фронт ) was a formation of the Red Army, which was used together with the 1st Far Eastern Front and the 2nd Far Eastern Front in May 1945 in the southeast of the Mongolian People's Republic to the acquired in the Tehran Conference and the Yalta Conference obligation of the Soviet Union to meet, three months after the victory in the west to enter the war against Japan. All three fronts and the Pacific Fleet were subordinated to the Supreme Command of the Soviet troops in the Far East.

Commander of the Trans-Baikal Front was Marshal Rodion Yakovlevich Malinovsky of the Soviet Union, ( 1 ) a member of the Military Council Lieutenant General AN Tewschenkow and Chief of Staff Army General Matvei Vasilevich Zakharov. The Transbaikal Front consisted of the 17th Army, 36th Army, 39th Army and 53 Army, the 6th Guards Tank Army, the 12th Air Army and the Soviet- Mongolian Cavalry - mechanized group ( Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army ), and an air defense force as a means of management of air defense. In addition there were associations, military units and units that were directly subordinated to the front.

As of 9 August, the troops of the front attacked southeast.
