The TGS Transportation Dora de Gas del Sur S. A. (TGS ) is the largest natural gas company in Argentina and Latin America.

Business object

The company has a market share of 60 % of the gas market in Argentina. The company supplies private customers and local distribution companies, power plants and industrial plants. To this end, the company operates a 7419 km long pipeline system. The transport capacity is 62.5 million cubic meters per day with a usable power HP 538 220. This gas business is subject to regulation by the Argentine government.

Apart from the regulated gas business, TGS offers other non- regulated services. This includes a telecommunications division and the processing of natural gas. TGS is a major distributor of liquefied petroleum gas ( " NGL "). The company operates the General Cerri Complex ( in Buenos Aires ).

History

1856 street lights were equipped with gas in Buenos Aires and later in other cities. To this end, local gas distribution companies were established. In 1945 the nationalization of these companies. Under the name "Gas del Estado " the gas supply was a state monopoly. As part of the privatization of the year 1992 from the state monopolist Gas del Estado, the TGS, which also lost its monopoly.
