Travel warning

Travel Warning is an official recommendation of an authority only for its own nationals for failure to make or break, since the journey device is not safe travel to a specific country or a specific area. Reasons for a travel warning may be unstable political, economic or social conditions or natural disasters that pose a direct threat to the traveling public. Also the assumption that relevant factors are changing in the foreseeable future and can affect travelers as disadvantageous may issue a warning to contribute. Travel warnings have civil effects to contracts governed by the law of the warning state and in the state, is warned before, ( at least partially ) to be fulfilled. Here the so called doctrine comes from the elimination of (or failure) of the basis ( in Germany, for example, generally § 313 BGB, for Travel Contracts § 651j BGB) to wear, its scope and limitations, however, are not always clear.

European Union

The EU has extended expertise in foreign and security policy since the Treaty of Lisbon. EU citizens can take other Member States also claim the consular protection if their own state is not represented in the destination country ( Article 23 TFEU). The European Commission publishes the travel warnings from all Member States on a web page under the title " Travel Tips ".

Germany

When the Foreign Office (AA ) that constantly relevant information for travel available ( See also: Section Related links), the travel advice. There are two levels of escalation, safety warnings and travel advisories:

Materials provided by the AA information is regularly checked for timeliness and correctness. Each document is dated and is valid until further notice, but risk factors or situations can change quickly.

Austria

In Austria travel warnings by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs ( BMEIA ) are issued on the basis of a decision matrix. Connected to the travel warning can also be a call to present already in place Austrians have to be reported immediately to the next Austrian representative or your return trip.

Such a travel warning is also the basis for a rebooking or cancellation of travel.

Switzerland

The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs ( DFA) of Switzerland maintains a list of so-called travel clues that a fundamental assessment of the situation and if given contains references to specific regional risks for most countries of the world. By traveling in countries with precarious security situation in each case specifically not recommended in this list.

United States of America

In the U.S., a more long-term, non-specifically recognized warning, usually on a region or a country is between Travel Warning, limited, and distinguished the Travel Alert. The latter refers to a concrete threat to U.S. citizens worldwide or regionally also limited. Also, the Department of State provides general information available to countries.
