Tray

A tray ( from the Latin tabula for the " board " ) is a flat implement. It is usually made of a plate that is surrounded by a (often over the plate raised ) edge. Use is it mostly for serving and transporting dishes, food or dishes with food on it. Therefore, the edge especially for large-scale models is sometimes provided with carrying handles.

A raised edge prevents spills drain or slide objects being transported. There are because the latter trays with rubberized transport surfaces. The rubber coating increases the friction and thus the maximum possible angle of inclination from the device, the contents of the tray on the move.

In Austria and Switzerland, the term panel is in use.
