The Treeing Walker Coonhound is a not recognized by the FCI breed of dog from the U.S., which is counted to the coonhounds. The breed is recognized by the AKC and UKC and led by two clubs in the Hound Group.
The Treeing Walker Coonhound, a descendant of the English Foxhound, which Thomas Walker in 1742 introduced to Virginia, was recognized as a separate breed in 1945. He has retained the appearance of the progenitor Bloodhound. He is a medium to large (up to 69 cm, 32 kg) dog for coon hunting. As a legacy from the Bloodhound his ears are large, hanging and limp. The coat is short, smooth, dense, two and three colors. The dog is a hunting dog on raccoon ( raccoon ) and opossums used.
