Parish

Trenchtown is a neighborhood of Kingston, Jamaica. It is inhabited mainly by the poor and can be called a slum.

Trenchtown is particularly known for numerous reggae musicians who grew up there. They include Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, who there wrote their first song and the band The Wailing Wailers founded. The group named the songs Trenchtown rock Trenchtown and after this district. Also in the song No Woman No Cry Marley sings in retrospect his time in the "government yard in Trenchtown " by which he appeals especially to his mother, who suffered from the severe conditions of the quarters in Trenchtown.
