Treptow Arena

The Arena Berlin is a multifunctional exhibition grounds in Berlin's district Alt-Treptow. The site with the address of Oak Street 4 is located on the flood ditch opposite the eastern harbor. The great hall, a former ABOAG depot, is a listed building.

History

The great hall was built in 1927 as a depot of the General Berliner Omnibus AG ( ABOAG ) designed by Franz Ahrens and was then one of the largest self-supporting hall in Europe. 1928 was the ABOAG on in the Berlin Transportation Company ( BVG). In 1993, the BVG was on the site that is used for cultural purposes since 1995. 2000, the hall was extensively renovated. In the following years, additional rooms were included in the environment and set up the bathing ship, for example.

Structure

The arena itself is a hall that is used for exhibitions, concerts, Roller Derby and similar events. On the grounds around it and close to several bars and restaurants (Anhalt, free float ) group, a night club ( Hoppetosse ) and the bath or sauna ship with adjacent town beach.

Management

Companies was the arena until 2011 by the Cultural Arena Event GmbH. This also hosted the popKick.06 Festival for the Football World Cup 2006 in nearby Treptower Park. Since October 2012, the Semmel Concerts Event Services GmbH leads the Hall of ARENA BERLIN.
