Trias picta

The triad of genus of the orchid family (Orchidaceae) comprises 19 species which occur from China to Australia.

Description

All species of the genus Triassic have the habit of Bulbophyllum species. Typical of Trias is the beak-like forwardly facing anther and always widely spaced sheeted bulbs. The inflorescence is substantially shorter than the blade. The plants flowered and make a triangular flower. This impression is created by the three similar sepals, of which the lateral wrong sitting at the pillar. The petals are very small. The tongue- shaped lip is designed small and portable connected to the pedestal. The plants have two Pollinienpaare.

Dissemination

All species of the genus Triassic are small epiphytes that occur in monsoon forests usually without substrate at the bark of trees.

Centers of diversity are India and Indonesia, which exudes class but from as far as China and Australia. The distribution areas of Triassic stocksii extend to the west of the coast of Bombay and south to North Kanara. In southern Burma the species natusa Trias, Trias oblonga and Trias picta occur. The occurrence of Trias picta ranges in the east to Thailand. Here is the spread of Trias intermedia, Triassic and Triassic mollis nana. In Vietnam you can find Trias nasuta and Trias nummularia, during Triassic and Triassic antheae tothastes only in Borneo occur.

Systematics and Botanical History

Trias is classified within the tribe Dendrobieae in the subtribe Bulbophyllinae. Related genera are Bulbophyllum, Hapalochilus, Sunipia etc. The genus Trias was erected in 1830 by John Lindley with the type species Trias oblonga. The name comes from the Greek word τριάς Triassic Triassic, " the number three " with reference to the triangular shape of flowers.
