Triazophos is a Thiophosphoric and is the active ingredient of the insecticide Hostathion Bayer CropScience (formerly Hoechst).

History

Triazophos was approved in Germany since 1975, it was in the EU by 31 December 2004, approved as an insecticide (EU Regulation No 2076 /2002), however, the admission to the EU Regulation No 1336 /2003 on July 25, 2003 was revoked. Today (as of 2013), it is still legal in some countries such as India, Mali and the Philippines.

Today triazophos still plays a role mainly in the Asian region where it is, for example, still marketed by Bayer CropScience subsidiary in Indonesia. However, the application is not without controversy, especially in India.

It is the active ingredient is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor.
