Trinitarian Church of Bratislava

The Trinitarian Church (Slovak kostol trinitárov ) or Cross Church Father or wrong also Trinity Church / Holy Trinity Church (Slovak kostol Najsvätejšej Trojice, Hungarian Szent Háromságtemplom ), officially the Church of St John of Matha, is a Catholic Church Baroque in Bratislava, Slovakia. It is located in the old town on Župné námestie ( German Komitatsplatz ).

They built the Trinitarian order in place of an old church of St. Michael, which was destroyed during the Turkish wars in the 16th century, with other parts of the suburbs. Construction began in 1717 and the church was, even though the work is continued until the mid-18th century, consecrated in 1727. The building is dominated by the dome with trompe l'oeil fresco. In the main altar is Altarpiece, the Saints John of Matha and Felix of Valois as ransom by the Turks retained prisoners represents. Additional properties are the statues of Saint Agnes and Saint Catherine, and a side altar.

In addition to the church was the monastery of the Trinity, but this was demolished and replaced in 1844 by the County of the county Pressburg. In the past, various concerts took place from 1939 to 1994 and was the home office of the Slovak National Council (since 1992 National Council of the Slovak Republic), before moving to the new building on the castle hill in 1994.

From 2003 to 2009 ( construction of the modern cathedral of Saint Sebastian ), the Trinitarian church was the cathedral of the Slovak Military Diocese.
