Trio Matamoros

Trío Matamoros was one of the most famous Cuban music groups. Bandleader and singer Miguel Matamoros, guitarist Rafael Cueto and percussionist Siro Rodríguez founded the Trío Matamoros in 1925 in her hometown of Santiago de Cuba. They coined the term Bolero Son and took items from the swing, the mambo and the rumba.

As Miguel Matamoros had problems with his voice in the early 1940s, he became involved in its defense diverse singer. So came 1940 Guillermo Portabales the trio at, and Benny Moré sang from 1945 to 1947 with. In 1969, the group split up eventually. Matamoros died two years later at the age of 77 years.

The 1929 released single Son de la loma was recorded in 2007 in the "Latin Grammy Hall of Fame" with which the U.S. Recording Academy honors since 2001 historical recordings of particular importance and consistent quality.
