TriPod (band)

TriPod is founded in 1998 in New York City American rock trio without guitar and keyboard instruments. The band used instead unconventional melody instruments (bass and wind instruments ).

Band Members

  • Clint Bahr ( 12 -string electric bass guitar, Chapman Stick, Taurus pedals, theremin, vocals)
  • Keith Gurland ( alto and tenor saxophone, flute, clarinet, pan flutes, vocals)
  • Steve Romano (acoustic and electronic drums and percussion )

Music and career

TriPod play only his own pieces, in which improvisation plays a major role. Their music has been classified as fusion, jazz, Canterbury sound, world music, prog, alternative, RIO and avant-garde. In contrast TriPod describe themselves simply as " rock trio ". After the band has long occurred only in the northeastern United States, she took recently, in international festivals: 2005 - Baja Prog Festival ( Mexico) 2006 - Zappanale ( Germany ), North West Rock Festival ( Croatia), Burg Herzberg Festival ( Germany ).

Genya Ravan discovered TriPod 2001 at New York club CBGB and produced her demo CD. TriPod official CD was released by the label MoonJune, where material already published by Soft Machine and Elton Dean.

TriPod should not be confused with the Australian comedy band Tripod or the French band Tripod.
