Tris(pyrazolyl)borate

Tris ( pyrazolyl) borate ( also referred to as Tripyrazolylboranate and abbreviated as Tp ) are salts of anions of the formula BH ( N2C3H3 ) 3 -. The tris ( pyrazolyl) borate ion, a ligand in the complex modern chemistry. A 6- electron donor has similarities with the cyclopentadienyl anion. However, it has significantly higher space requirement and is a stronger electron donor.

Structure

Three pyrazole rings with their nitrogen atoms attached to a central boron atom, which also carries a further hydrogen atom. The second nitrogen atom of each pyrazole ring is available for complex formation. Tp is thus a 3- dentate 6- electron donor.
