Tristán Bauer

Tristán Bauer ( born June 22, 1959 in Mar del Plata, Argentina) is an Argentine film director, screenwriter and cinematographer.

Bauer studied directing and was then worked as a cameraman on numerous Argentine and Latin American film productions. From the early 1990s he directed and wrote the screenplay for several documentaries and won with his first feature film, After the storm, some awards. His documentaries often thematize literary personalities, so Cortázar, an award-winning portrait of the Argentine writer Julio Cortázar. His 1999 film The published books and the night is by Jorge Luis Borges.

For his war drama Iluminados por el fuego Bauer received the 2006 Goya in the category " Best Foreign Film in Spanish " and was able to prevail against, among others Álvaro Buela.
