Triumph (Band)

Triumph is a Canadian rock band from Toronto, which was successful from the late 1970s until the 1980s. The group is compared with some of the more successful Rush, not only because they come from the same country and also consisted of three members, but also in music and lyrics.

Biography

Triumph founded in 1975 in Toronto, Ontario. A year later, Emmet, Levine and Moore were able to publish their self-titled debut album. 1977 followed the successor Rock ' n' Roll Machine. Both albums initially appeared only in Canada. About radio station in Texas they were coming to the attention in the United States. A tour through Texas caused further promotion.

In 1978, under the title of Rock ' n' Machine a compilation for the American market. RCA Records the group had adopted. In 1979, the group with Just A Game their commercial breakthrough. The single Hold On was also placed on the Billboard charts. In the course of the album was certified gold status in America.

With the album Progressions of Power, the band also in England was able to place in the charts. Allied Forces in 1981 became the biggest hit for the band. The maximum ranking in the Billboard charts was No. 23 A platinum record was awarded the band. The sophomore Never Surrender (1983 ) sold quite well.

1984 Triumph left RCA Records and signed with MCA. Thunder Seven was produced by Eddie Kramer and was able to sell very well. In 1985, the first live album Stages of the group.

Four years was the band on ice until Xenidis with Phil ( Phil X) a new singer and guitarist was found. The first release was the song Troublemaker for the soundtrack to Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth. The Edge of Excess album followed in the same year. In 1993, Phil X, the band, the remaining members put the band on ice again. 1998 should return the occasion of the 20 - year band anniversary Emmett, but this plan was rejected for financial and personal reasons.

Currently, the band is still inactive, but released DVDs, samplers and live albums.
