Troels Svane

Troels Svane (born 1967 ) is a Danish cellist.

Life

Troels Svane studied with David Geringas at the Musikhochschule Lübeck and passed his diploma and concert exam with distinction and highest grade in all subjects. He also studied with Anner Bylsma, Frans Helmerson, Ralph Kirshbaum, György Ligeti, Yo- Yo Ma, Siegfried Palm, Boris Pergamenschikow, Mstislav Rostropowich, Daniil Shafran, Paul Tortelier and the Amadeus Quartet.

After his graduation he became Vice Principal cellist of the Copenhagen Philharmonic at age 18. In addition to numerous scholarships he has received national and international awards. As a soloist, he was invited by most Danish orchestras and orchestras in Germany, England, Holland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Switzerland.

As a recitalist and as a member of the Copenhagen Trio and the Menuhin Festival Piano Quartet he has performed throughout Europe, Australia, Asia, South America and the United States. Troels Svane concerted inter alia, Yuri Bashmet with Thomas Brandis, Zakhar Bron, Ulf Hoelscher, Karl Leister and the Zehetmair Quartet.

He played more than 40 CDs, among others, the complete works for cello and piano by Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Reger.

After 11 - years as an assistant of David Geringas he was appointed in 2004 as Professor of Cello at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. He also has a cello class at the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler" Berlin. He has given master classes in Australia, Asia, Ukraine, South America and in many European countries and was a jury member at international competitions. His students have won prizes in international competitions such as the Rostropowich Competition in Paris and the ARD Competition in Munich.
