Frans Helmerson

Frans Helmerson (* 1945 in Falköping ) is a Swedish cellist, teacher and conductor.

Life

He was educated at Guido Vecchi in Gothenburg, at Giuseppe Selmi in Rome and at William Pleeth in London. Breakfast sponsored by Mstislav Rostropovich, he won the 1971 " Concorso Gaspar Cassadó " in Florence and took on an international solo career, which has since taken him throughout Europe, North and South America, Russia, Japan and Australia. He has worked with orchestras under the direction of conductor Colin Davis, Neeme Järvi, Evgeny Svetlanov, Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, Kurt Sanderling, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Rostropovich, Herbert Blomstedt, Seiji Ozawa, Yuri Temirkanov and Esa -Pekka Salonen. The chamber music is for Frans Helmerson a focus with the Michelangelo String Quartet. As a professor Helmerson teaches at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, the Kronberg Academy and the Hanns Eisler Hochschule in Berlin.
