Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu
The Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu ( to German Santiago Bernabeu Trophy ) is an annually organized by Real Madrid football tournament. It will be held in August or September in honor of long-time club president, player and coach Santiago Bernabéu since 1979, who had recently died in the year in office.
From 1979 to 1982, and 1984, 1986 and the centenary of the club, in 2002, the tournament was played with four teams, each with semi-finals and finals. Otherwise, only a game between the host team and an invited opponent took place.
In 2007, the tournament due to the death of football player Antonio Puerta ( Sevilla FC ) was canceled and postponed to December 5.
