Tromsø University Museum

The Tromsø Museum 1872 (full name: Tromsø Museum - Universitetsmuseet, short TMU ) in the Norwegian city of Tromsø is the oldest scientific institution in northern Norway. It is divided into two sections: one for science and one for cultural studies. In their research into the region of the last hundred years are documented in collections. Among the four public for the public departments include the Polar Museum in the city center, the Tromsø Museum itself in Sørøya the ship M / S Polstjerna in Sørbyen and the Arctic- Alpine Botanical Garden (Tromsø arktisk alpine botanisk hage ) in Breivika. In 1976 the museum was incorporated into the University of Tromsø. 2010 merged the Tromsø Museum with the Polar Museum.
