Trouble the Water is the title of a published in 2008 documentary. It was produced by Tia Lessin and Carl Deal, the already participated as producers in Fahrenheit 9/11. The movie shows the fate of Kimberly Rivers Roberts and her husband Scott during Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. Trouble the Water was nominated in 2009 as Best Documentary Oscar. In addition gewannder film at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival the Grand Jury Prize, was awarded the Working Films Award at the Full Frame Documentary Festival, Kathleen Bryan Edwards Award for Human Rights and the Special Prize at the AFI / Silverdoc Festival (all 2008).

The film also won the 2009 Gotham Award for Best Documentary, and the Council on Foundation 's Henry Hampton Award ( 2008). In addition, Trouble the Water was nominated for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding documentation and for the Producers Guild of America Award ( both 2009).
