Trouville (Seine-Maritime)

Trouville, often called Trouville- Alli cross- Ville, is a municipality with 626 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the French region of Haute -Normandie.

Geography

Trouville is a rural municipality in the Pays de Caux, situated 43 km road distance east of Le Havre.

History

The municipality comprises the villages of Trouville and Alli cross- Ville.

The name Trouville derives from the Anglo- Scandinavian names Torold, a variant of the Norwegian Thorwald and the altfranzösischem word ville, Farm (Latin villa rustica ) and then village. From the proven 1240 Latinized form Thorouvilla eventually became Trouville.

The derivation of the name Torold true in Normandy for the place names Thérouldeville, Turretot, Bourgtheroulde as well as the many other Trouville.

The name Alli cross- Ville is derived from Alichervilla, 1111-1118, the farm of Alitcharius ( Alitkar ). The latter is a Germanic personal name bipartite alit with the ingredients and kar.
