Troy Murphy

Troy Brandon Murphy ( born 2 May 1980 in Morristown, New Jersey ) is an American professional basketball player who played for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. It is used both on the position of the center as well as the power forwards. Before he went to the University of Notre Dame, where two-time All-American was, he spent four years at the Delbarton School. He grew up in Sparta, New Jersey.

Career

High School

Murphy was a three time All- County and two-time all-state basketball player under Coach Dan Whalen for the Delbarton School in Morristown. In his junior year he scored 20.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game and was able to improve in his sophomore year, even at 23.5 points per game. In his senior year he led his team to 20 wins in 26 games while 33 points, 14.8 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game could chalk up. At the end of the season he was named Morris County Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player of his team at the Capital Classic in Washington DC selected.

College

Murphy played three seasons long basketball for the University of Notre Dame and led the team, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, in all three years in both the points and in rebounding. He was in his junior and in his sophomore year, a First Team All-American. In 2001 he was appointed along with Troy Bell which he became one of four players who were allowed to receive this award twice for the Big East Conference Player of the Year.

He scored the fifth- most points in the history of the university and as he left the university, he had the second most blocks, free throws and was sixth in the category rebounds. After the end of his college career, he could look back on an average of 21.4 points and 9.8 rebounds.

Golden State Warriors ( 2001-2007 )

Murphy was selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. After a slow start, he seemed to be the end of his first season in the NBA playing field always better navigate. In his second season he was already in the starting lineup of the Warriors and was able to increase his average to 11.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He was one of five players who achieved a double double on average this season. In the Rookie Challenge, he was represented to the team of sophomores and at the end of the season, he finished in the choice of the Most Improved Player of the NBA second place. In the following, his third season, he was injured participate in only 28 games of his team.

In the NBA season 2004/2005, Murphy's fourth season in the league, he increased his average to 15.4 points points per game and his rebounding on a cut of 10.8 per game. In the following two seasons his average fell slightly.

Indiana Pacers (2007 to 2010)

January 17, 2007 Murphy was issued along with Mike Dunleavy, Jr., Ike Diogu and Ketih McLeod in exchange for Stephon Jackson, Al Harrington, and Josh Powell Šarūnas Jasikevičius to the Indiana Pacers. During his time with the Pacers Murphy improved his three- point shot further and met in the NBA season 2008/2009 45 % of his threesome. This season his average was 14.3 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.

New Jersey Nets (2010 to 2011)

On 11 August 2010 Murphy landed by four teams and five players overall trade with the New Jersey Nets, for whom he played 18 games. On 23 February 2011 he was given together with a second-round draft pick in exchange for Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric to the Golden State Warriors, who bought him out four days later by a buyout agreement from his contract.

Boston Celtics (2011)

On 2 March 2011 Murphy signed with the Boston Celtics a contract until the end of season 2010/2011.

Los Angeles Lakers (2011 to 2012)

For the season 2011/2012 Murphy moved to the Los Angeles Lakers. There he was given a contract until the end of the season. After the Lakers as hoped could not reach the final, Murphy was awarded the 2012/2013 season a new contract in Los Angeles.

Dallas Mavericks (2012 )

After Murphy initially found no new club, he remained until November 2012 without a contract. Shortly after the start of the season he finally got one of the Dallas Mavericks offer and signed the Texas Club a one-year contract until 2013. Yet already the end of November, his contract was dissolved in Dallas back to Guard Derek Fisher can undertake.
