TT100

TT100 ( Theban Tomb no 100) is the modern term for the grave chapel of the vizier Rekhmire, the reign of Thutmosis III. and Amenhotep II officiated. The chapel is situated in Western Thebes.

The chapel is carved into the rocks and has a T-shaped floor plan with an open atrium. The plant operates 25 m into the rock. The porch is 20 m wide. Unique is the main hall, which is getting higher towards the rear. The chapel is largely imagined. The decoration is well preserved and is an important source of information for managing, Crafts and Trades ( metal extraction etc. ) as well as the art of this period. Among the more important scenes in the chapel include representations of the mouth ritual representations of tribute charms from Upper Egypt and neighboring countries. The so-called Instructions to the vizier is a text which tells of the everyday activity of the vizier. The text is also known by other graves, but particularly well preserved. It is one of the most important texts to the Egyptian administration. Other representations in the grave show a banquet or the supervision of civil works and workshops.

The chapel has no grave chambers. It can be assumed that the real grave of Rekhmire is to search in a different location, probably in the Valley of the Kings. His chapel was exclusively for his cult of the dead.
