Tubal-cain

Tubal- Cain (Hebrew: תובל - קין, often: Tubal- Kayin, the common interpretation of " Tubal the smith " is only popular etymology ) is a figure in the Hebrew Bible.

Tubal- Cain is in Gen 4,22 EU mention. His father Lamech came therefore from Adam 's eldest son Cain. Lamech himself was married to Zillah, mother of their son Tubal- Cain. The sister of Tubal- Cain was Naamah. The Bible also mentions two half-brothers, Tubal- Cain, Jabal and Jubal.

Tubal- Cain is, following the biblical narrative, have been the progenitor of all brass and iron forge.

In Freemasonry the name Tubal- Cain is traditionally used as the password of the apprentice level and partially also the master degree.
