Tucheng District

Tucheng (土 城区Chinese, Pinyin Tǔchéng Qū, PEH oē - jī tho ͘ - sia ⁿ - khu ) is a district of the city of New Taipei City in northern Taiwan, Republic of China.

Location

Tucheng one of the smaller, densely populated districts in the west of the city of New Taipei City and is located on the eastern shore of the river Dahan. Its neighboring districts are Shulin in the west, in the north Banqiao, Zhonghe and Xindian in the east and in the south Sanxia. Tucheng is connected to the metro network of Taipei.

Importance

The area of present-day Tuchengs was inhabited from the late 18th century by Chinese immigrants. Originally agricultural and dominated by traditional crafts, Tucheng be changed at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century in the wake of the rise of neighboring Taipei to the big city to an industrial area. In the second half of the 20th century settled, encouraged by promotion measures by the government, increasingly corporations in the top technology.
