Tugan Sokhiev

Tugan Taimurasowitsch Sochijew (Russian Туган Таймуразович Сохиев; Ossetian: Тугьан Сохиты; * 1977 in Ordzhonikidze, North Ossetia -Alania ) is a conductor of the Russian Federation.

Life

Sochijew started seven years ago with the piano lessons, with 17 he conducted for the first time. He was encouraged to do so by the conductor of the North Ossetian State Philharmonic Orchestra, Anatoly Briskin. He then studied at the Conservatory in Saint Petersburg in Yuri Temirkanov and Ilya Musin Chatujewitsch.

His first opera La Bohème conducted Sochijew in Iceland. The Director General of the Welsh National Opera, Anthony Freud, he was appointed Music Director in 2001 for a five-year period from 2003. Sochiew 2004 resigned his post at the Welsh National Opera. From 2005 Sochiew guest conductor at the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, where he became music director in 2008.
