Tundzha

The Tundscha ( Bulg Тунджа, Tonzos Greek, Latin Taenarus / Tonzus, Turkish Nehri Tunca ) is a river in Bulgaria and Turkey.

Course

The Tundscha rises in the central Balkan Mountains near the Botev peak. From the source to the Yambol Tundscha flows about to the east. From there it flows südlichle direction and forms the border between the mountains Sakar and beach damage. In Edirne in Turkish territory, joins the Tundscha in the Maritsa. The Tundscha is the largest tributary of the Maritsa.

River system

The Tundscha is about 350 km long and has about 50 tributaries - the larger ones are Motschuriza ( Мочурица ) Popowska ( Поповска ) and Sinapowska ( Синаповска ).

The river is dammed by two large reservoirs - Reservoir Koprinka ( Bulg язовир Копринка, formerly Georgi Dimitrov reservoir ) and reservoir Schrebtschewo ( Bulg язовир Жребчево ).
