Tunilla soehrensii

Tunilla is a genus of flowering plants of the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The botanical name of the genus is derived from the Spanish word " Tunilla " with which some species are known. It means Little Tuna.

Description

The low-growing species of the genus Tunilla are divided and often shape pillow. Your warty shoot sections are spherical, cylindrical or depressed. The white to brown, marked with glochids areoles stand apart 1 to 2 inches. The numerous needle-like thorns.

The flowers are yellow, orange or red to purple, rarely pink or white.

The bursting of a single lateral gap fruits are fleshy and thin-walled. The small to medium-sized, irregularly kidney-shaped seeds are compressed from 2.5 to 4.5 millimeters long and laterally.

Systematics and distribution

The species of the genus are Tunilla southern Peru, Bolivia, Chile and northwestern Argentina widespread.

The first description of the genus was made in 2000 by David Richard Hunt and James Iliff. The type species of the genus Opuntia is soehrensii. Belong to the genus of the following types:
