The Tunoschna Airport (Russian Аэропорт Туношна, IATA code IAR, ICAO code UUDL ) is the airport of the Russian city of Yaroslavl.

It is served by S7 Airlines and Aeroflot. In addition, the Avia Group offers the Dexter air taxis to city connections.

Location and infrastructure

The airport is on the branch line of the highway M8 from Yaroslavl to Kostroma, 17 km southeast of Yaroslavl, on the banks of the Volga River at an altitude of 93 m AMSL.

The airport has a 3000 m long, 44 m wide runway and landing strip of asphalt and concrete with the orientation 05 / 23rd Directly north, adjoining runs parallel to a 750 m long, 100 m wide grass runway, which can however be used only in winter.

History

The airport is located on the grounds of a former military airfield, which transferred to the Yaroslavl Oblast, the government of the Russian Federation on 13 August 1998. The sole shareholder of the airport is a company owned by the Oblast.

On September 7, 2011, near this airport the plane crash near Yaroslavl, in which a large part of the ice hockey team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl who died occurred.
