Tuřany (Cheb District)

Tuřany ( German Thurn ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eleven kilometers east of the center of Cheb and belongs to Okres Cheb.

Geography

Tuřany located at the foot of the Imperial Forest in eastern Egerbeckens. The village lies in the valley of the creek Lipoltovský ( Krottenbach ) just before its confluence with the Šitbořský Potok ( Reubach or Leimbach ). To the west rises the hill Rovina ( front like a mountain, 481 m), is located behind the dam Jesenice.

Neighboring towns are Návrší in the north, Kamenný Dvůr and Štědrá in the northeast, Mokrina in the east, in the southeast Těšov, UVAL in the south, Okrouhlá the southwest, Jesenice in the west and Obilná and Lipoltov in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village took place in 1352.

After the replacement of patrimonial Thurn made ​​1850 a municipality in the district court or political district of Eger Eger, came on top in the second half of the 19th century, the district Rolessengrün. 1930 lived in Thurn 256 people, in 1939 there were 258 After the Munich Agreement in 1938, the village was incorporated into the German Reich and was from 1939 to 1945 the district of Eger.
