Turbinicarpus jauernigii

Turbinicarpus jauernigii is a flowering plant in the genus Turbinicarpus from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ).

Description

Turbinicarpus jauernigii grows mostly single with green, flashy bewachsten - this little white flaky appearing - depressed spherical to spherical bodies and has a short, strong taproot. The body can reach growth height 1-2 centimeters and a diameter of 2.5 to 5 centimeters. The little pronounced cusps are low and rounded. It is usually a single, projecting, straight white central spine with dark tip and a length of 5-8 millimeters available.

The dirty light brown flowers are up to 2.5 inches long and have a diameter of 1.5 centimeters. The small greenish fruit dry up at maturity.

Systematics, distribution and hazard

Turbinicarpus jauernigii is common in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí. The first description was in 1993 by Frank Gerhart. Synonyms are Turbinicarpus lophophoroides subsp. jauernigii ( Gerhart Frank) L.Battaia & Zanov. , Pediocactus lophophoroides var jauernigii ( Gerhart Frank) and Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. jauernigii ( Gerhart Frank) D.R.Hunt.

Turbinicarpus jauernigii be listed in Annex I of the CITES Convention.
